Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Project Wins Two International Finance Awards 2026

Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Company (K.S.P.C.) has been honoured with two prestigious awards in the Utility/Energy category at the International Finance Awards 2026.
The project has been recognised with the following distinctions:
- Best Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Infrastructure Project – 2026
- Best Wastewater Treatment Project – 2026
The awards recognise the scale, strategic importance and impact of the Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Project, one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in the region. The project represents a significant public-private partnership aimed at supporting Kuwait’s infrastructure development, environmental sustainability and long-term water management objectives.
With a treatment capacity of approximately 500,000 cubic metres per day, the Umm Al Hayman facility is designed to serve around 1.7 million people. The project contributes to the development of resilient water infrastructure while supporting the reuse of treated wastewater and promoting more sustainable resource management.
Commenting on the recognition, Hassan F. Choudhry, Acting CEO and CFO of Umm Al Hayman for Wastewater Treatment Company K.S.P.C., said the awards reflect the vision of the State of Kuwait and the dedication of the project’s shareholders, lenders, partners and project team.
“These awards reflect the vision of the State of Kuwait, in delivering one of the largest PPP wastewater facilities in the region, together with the dedication of our shareholders, lenders, partners and the UAH Project Company team who have brought it to life.”
He further highlighted the project’s contribution to Kuwait Vision 2035 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in areas including clean water, resilient infrastructure, environmental protection and effective public-private partnerships.
The recognition by International Finance further highlights Umm Al Hayman’s commitment to operational excellence, transparency and long-term value creation for Kuwait and its stakeholders.

The two International Finance Awards mark an important achievement for the Umm Al Hayman project and its stakeholders, recognising its role in advancing modern wastewater treatment infrastructure and supporting Kuwait’s wider sustainability and development objectives.
